Buyer Critiques

My background: I am a Common Contractor/Finish Carpenter, 20yrs in the company. Some of the tool evaluations I see are flawed based on perception "this or that tool does not do everything I hoped it would" - regardless of the tool designer's intention. Granted, there are some crappy, poorly developed tools out there, and it is excellent to have feedback to avoid acquiring mistakes.
That stated, be sincere with yourself, what do you need this compressor to do?
Here is what this compressor is not fantastic for:
(1) Running as the main compressor for your rough framing gun for production perform. Not just for the reason that it won't maintain up, but also that it will not final as long as an oiled compressor beneath those conditions.
(2) Operating an air-chisel/chipper gun or other massive air consumption tool it will not supply sufficient CFM at pressure.
(three) Throw-N-Go yes it is light adequate to toss in the back of your truck with ease, but if you don't secure it - expect a lumpy red bowling ball rolling around on the first rapid turn/panic cease. (Note: it really is stable standing nevertheless/will not fall more than when bumped)
(4) For property owners, the hose and accessory kit is adequate, absolutely nothing alot more, nothing at all much less. If you contract, you already know it is not the purpose you are choosing this compressor.
Here is what it is amazing for:
(1) The best cause of all - lightweight (34 lbs.) but nonetheless has punch. You will basically use this w/o hesitation given that of weight. Outstanding for operating up stairs. Hassle-free to set down on a moving pad w/o also considerably worry about denting completed flooring. Quick to move via doorways/prevent damaged jambs. No oily residue about motor. Start out-up is circuit breaker friendly. Compact footprint/low profile, (a actual asset when carrying so lots of tools).
(2) Amazing for operating finish guns. They do not have high CFM needs, so why keep carrying about the 60lb+ compressor?
(three) Basic everyday homeowner demands tire inflation, blowing off dusty workbench, filter cleaning, and so on. This compressor is wonderful for you. Acquire it, you will have no regrets.
(4) The larger/150psi is great for the occasional "kick" for some harder wood. (most top rated out at 120-135psi) Just be confident to dial it back down afterward to save the nailgun seals.
(five) Larger pressure makes it possible for for the 120 psi cut-in/restart. This suggests more useable air pressure for the nailgun a reduce in the last two or three shots not becoming countersank by the gun considering that of low pressure/waiting for the compressor to kick in. When it drops to 120 psi, it restarts. Most other compressors in this class max out/shut off at 120 psi.
(6) Bigger tank, (6 gallon), and greater CFM 90psi than most other compressors in this class.
(7) Way more durable and it has attributes that make sense, (2 hose couplers, a new deal with style lets you run a cable to lock it up at the jobsite). It's superior designed than most other little compressors.
There is a purpose you see this compressor so often on a finish carpenter's rig - good bang-for-the-buck and it works well. If your expectations are realistic, it will last as well. As far as the comments I see about it getting loud, it really is not any louder than other compressors of similar capacity and value, and in fact quieter than some of the rest.
I use the DeWalt D55155 for my intermediate/remodel compressor. It's an absolutely outstanding multi-gun/moderate rough framing compressor, but just also heavy to carry for those days of just finish function. Construction is hard enough on us as it is. Decide to buy your tools accordingly.
The bottom line is this:
Be truthful in your tool expectations. I highly advocate this compressor but only for little to med CFM use/finish carpentry work, and some incidental/on-the-spot rough framing (e.g. correcting negative framing for finish perform, NOT production rough framing). For construction with higher CFM wants, buy this as your second compressor, not primary.
If you only have simple, modest company/homeowner desires, decide to purchase it with self-confidence in your choice. (For the record, I personal and use this as 1 of my on-the-job compressors)
For those new to the construction enterprise/or tool acquiring, I hope this helps.
For the other contractors, sorry if it sounds like preaching the apparent. Just attempting to help the newbies.

Also Note: Prior to beginning, be confident to stick to the break-in process to-the-letter. Since it is an oil-much less motor, it will make a distinction in how lengthy this compressor lasts, and save you from some unnecessary grief.

Was utilizing a one gallon Campbell Haus compressor. It was extremely loud and did not hold significantly air. Making use of it for filling automobile and atv tires. Wanted alot more air capacity and quiter use. This Porter Cable six gallon is far improved and quieter also. The extra accessories included with the WK version is much less costly than the standard C2002. Extremely good unit and well built. Meets all my demands and runs less typically due to the 6 gallon tank. Delivered on time as promised by Amazon. Well done!
